**** NEWS FLASH! *****
Again this fall (2007), we will be offering completed quilts and quilted items on eBay to benefit the
Stephanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research.
Please notify everyone and anyone to please check out
these gorgeous quilts and wallhangings and BID!
To access the quilts quickly, search on eBay for the
"Stitching Up Hope" items beginning October 1.
All items will have the words "Stitching Up Hope" in the title line.
We do not take any profit, fees, or monies from these auctions
and ALL money raised goes directly to the Spielman Fund at the
James Cancer Center at Ohio State University.
Thus far in 2007 we have raise just shy of $800 in auctions held on eBay in the spring.
We hope to add LOTS to this total so we can generously give
a check to Stefanie and her helpers in November.
THANK YOU!
Since so many women are affected
by breast cancer, we have decided to hold
a benefit auction and quilt show
to benefit the Stefanie Spielman Fund for
Breast Cancer Research at the James Cancer
Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
The James is a world-class cancer research
hospital affiliated with the
Ohio State University.
We asked quilters to construct
a 9 1/2 inch (unfinished) quilt block
using a fat quarter we provided
along with any other coordinates they had.
These blocks have been assembled
into quilts and wallhangings
for a quilt show and silent auction.
All proceeds from the auction will go
directly to the Stefanie Spielman Fund.
All labor and materials are being donated
for this project.

The bright bees and floral fabric used
in this paper pieced block was the first
focus fabric we chose for the 2004 project.
Internationally, blocks have been sent from Australia,
France, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Canada.

The rose red floral bud print was the
second focus fabric we selected.
Many of the blocks we've received are
dedicated in memory of a cancer victim
or in honor of a cancer survivor.
This block is an especially nice one
in memory of a friend.
The third focus fabric we chose is
the purple and blue bud floral fabric.
We used a 15 yard bolt and cut it into
fat quarter for use in these blocks.
That's 60 fat quarters of this fabric alone!
On April 17, 2004, twelve dedicated quilters
and sewers enjoyed designing and piecing
several hundred quilt blocks into
quilts and wallhangings. On May 12 and 13
two more sewing sessions created more
than a dozen quilt tops!
We received over 900 quilt blocks and
two completed quilt tops from two different quilt guilds!
Enjoy these photos of the ladies hard at work!
Here's the dedicated volunteers who assembled
12 quilt tops and wallhangings in just 6 hours!
We are showing just a few of the completed tops.

Enjoy these photos of 15 of the completed quilts!
Many more quilts and wallhangings are out to quilters
being quilted and finished.
All completed quilts are showcased as a larger image
and further details on a new website:
www.stitchinguphope.com
All quilts will be available for sale with proceeds
to benefit the Stefanie Spielman Fund
for Breast Cancer Research!

Thanks to some dedicated long-arm and short-arm
quilters, we have 27 quilts and wallhangings finished
as of August 12th. Special thanks go to Susan Holmes
and Becky Mumford who tackled more than one project for us.
Here are some of the finished items ready for the quilt shows!

Enjoy some more! All these items and more
keep arriving as they are completed!

An especially generous quilt guild donated 52 blocks!
Another quilt guild made an entire quilt top and sent it!
As soon as we get these new blocks assembled into tops for quilts,
wall hangings and table toppers, we will add photos.
Want to help? Go to the Online Catalog and click on the
Stitching Up Hope category and choose a FQ for your block!
Email us the number and we'll get it sent off to you immediately.
International sewers especially welcome!
